Meet Manali Desai Author of The Untold Stories the new exciting microtales collection Released on the 23rd October 2019

-Now, Manali, I understand your novel is available in both eBook and paperback format. Tell us more about yourself and your book

Hello, first of all, thank you me giving me this opportunity.

I am Manali Desai, a freelance writer and editor. I also run my blog under my pen name A Rustic Mind. Besides blogging and undertaking ad hoc writing as well as editing assignments, I have authored two solo books and two anthologies.

The Untold Stories is a collection of 131 microtales which talk about everyday incidents from people’s lives which go on to make a huge impact in their coming days. We may shrug them off as not so important, but to the people living them in that moment of time, these are the make or break moments.

-Wow, that is an original and creative way of representing your ideas. What inspired you to write this book?

My biggest inspiration behind writing this book was to tap into a segment where even non-readers would be able to enjoy and appreciate fiction. The one thing all non-readers I came across had in common as a complaint about not choosing to read books was that they don’t have time to read long texts or stories. So, I thought, why not give them a short text?

-Smart Strategy! What was the main challenge you faced when creating your book?

I had ample story ideas, but the biggest challenge was to convey these stories in 4-5 sentences.

-How do you stand out from your competition?

There are hardly any microtale books out there (and I’m talking about all across the world here) so that’s my main USP.

-Are you a huge reader yourself? And what do you usually read? Any favorites?

Oh yes! I eat, sleep and drink books! My favorite genre is fantasy fiction because it takes us into a world which is different from the one, we are living in.

Harry Potter would be a top-favorite in this, then come The Hunger Games and The Divergent trilogy.

-J.K. Rowling is very popular among self-published authors including myself. Tell us, what is your next step as an author?

Another one of my books is coming out on 15th July 2020. This is a collection of short stories (flash fiction) and then the plan is to venture into non-fiction.

-Do you have any tips or advice for other aspiring indie authors?

Never stop believing in your writing because there is a readership for each story out there.

-Here Here! Is there anything else you would like to add?

Before becoming a writer, the foremost skill you need to have is becoming a reader. Until and unless you do not love reading, you may never learn to write as well as you otherwise can.

That’s awesome, thank you Manali for those great insights! We all wish you the best of luck, and we look forward to seeing your next piece of work.
